As I have mentioned before, my house is very international.  We live in Israel but I was (obviously) born in American and the Kosher Mom was born in France.  At any given time, a blend of three languages can be heard in our home.  The Kosher Kids speak Hebrew among themselves while I speak English with them and the Kosher Mom speaks French.   Often times we speak using a combination of the three languages.  For example, my children might say, “boker tov Daddy, j’ai soif, ifshar lishtot please? (Good morning Dad-English, I am thirsty-French, can I have something to drink-Hebrew please-English)”.  As a result, as hard as everyone tries, certain things get lost in translation. This morning, for instance, when the Kosher Wife (mom) was looking at my new cell phone protector (the literal translation from French to English is shell) she said to me, “I like your new coque (in French)”.  You can imagine the look on my face when I spun my head around in shock.  Well, in French, “coque” is “cell phone protector”.  We all know what it means in English.  The multitude of languages in our home keeps us all on our toes, to say the least.  Passez une bonne journée!
